How TabMove accelerated Valmet's migration from Tableau Server to Cloud
Valmet's complex landscape included custom embedding across platforms like a React web application and Salesforce CRM, all relying on deprecated Tableau embedding APIs. To ensure long-term maintainability, Valmet needed to migrate to Tableau’s Embedding API v3.
In parallel, they had developed an internal user and rights management platform, which was tightly coupled with Tableau Server. As part of their migration to Tableau Cloud, this platform also required architectural changes to remain compatible in the new ecosystem.
Valmet was operating in a dual-environment setup consisting of:

TabMove: The Tableau Cloud migration tool
Biztory’s role was to take full ownership of the Tableau Cloud migration using our proprietary tool TabMove — including the migration of content and architecture to Tableau Cloud, re-establishing:
- Subscriptions
- Extract refresh schedules
- Datasource credentials and connections
- Ensuring the integrity of existing security models and folder structures
This gave Valmet’s internal teams the room they needed to focus on modernizing their own applications, particularly updating embedding integrations and transitioning their custom user management system for compatibility with Tableau Cloud.

Tableau Cloud migration process with TabMove
Every migration with TabMove follows a similar process.
01 Cloud Migration Discovery
Valmet needed a Cloud Migration approach that could meet their needs based on migration complexity and speed. During a first free discovery, we ran Valmet through a series of questions and came up with a high-level estimation on the cloud migration effort with TabMove.
02 TabMove simulation
During a deep dive audit and fully remote workshop, we got hands-on access to Valmet team and server environments. While applying our proven methodology, we ran a final dry-run of our TabMove solution, simulating the full scope of Valmet's migration to Tableau Cloud.
03 Migrating to Tableau Cloud
Once agreed on the full scope and our delivery model during the simulation, it was time for the official migration to Tableau Cloud. Here, the migration squad supported TabMove as the solution for the move from Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud.
Biztory successfully migrated 2,300 Tableau assets from Server to Cloud without disruption, modernizing Valmet’s embedded analytics across its core platforms. The transition ensured full business continuity and established a future-ready Tableau Cloud environment seamlessly integrated with Snowflake, React, Salesforce, and internal systems.
